Important Risk and Safety Information for Gebauer’s Pain Ease® and Gebauer’s Ethyl Chloride®:

Do not spray in eyes. Over spraying may cause frostbite. Freezing may alter skin pigmentation. Use caution when using product on persons with poor circulation. The thawing process may be painful and freezing may lower resistance to infection and delay healing. If skin irritation develops, discontinue use. CAUTION: Federal law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a licensed healthcare practitioner.

Gebauer’s Pain Ease Only:

Apply only to intact oral mucous membranes. Do not use on genital mucous membranes. Consult your pediatrician when using on children 4 years old and younger.

Gebauer’s Ethyl Chloride Only:

Published clinical trial results support the use in children 3 years of age and older. Ethyl chloride is FLAMMABLE and should never be used in the presence of an open flame or electrical cautery equipment. Use in a well-ventilated area. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating or inhaling the contents can be harmful or fatal. Do not spray in eyes. Over application of the product may lead to frostbite and/or altered skin pigmentation. Cutaneous sensitization may occur, but appears to be extremely rare. CAUTION: Federal law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a licensed healthcare practitioner.

Emergency Nursing 2018 Conference Recap

In the blink of an eye Emergency Nursing 2018 came and went. The ENA conference is one of our favorite times of the year! It is an honor to have the opportunity to meet so many new nurses and catch up with familiar faces. Everyone at the conference is eager to uncover the latest in technology, education and research.

To advance your practice, it is important to advance your knowledge. Therefore, ENA provided over 160 educational sessions and activities throughout the show. If you weren’t at the conference, we wanted to share a few key takeaways and topics that can help in your practice too:

  1. Self-care for nurses should be a top priority. As speaker Mary Ann House-Fancher stated, “You are the role model, but if you’re giving away everything of yourself, that’s not the best thing.”
  2. Unfortunately, a tragedy can strike our society at any time. Whether it is a natural disaster or a state of emergency, health care facilities need to have a comprehensive plan ready to execute.
  3. To provide the best care, health care professionals must be knowledgeable and aware of today’s hot topics. Some current topics that nurses at ENA discussed and debated were Should You Ask About Firearms?, how we should redefine the word ‘millennial,’ and how to properly help victims of human trafficking.

Our Gebauer team has been a proud exhibitor at ENA for over 5 years where we showcase Gebauer’s Pain Ease instant topical anesthetic skin refrigerant. This year we were excited to share with the attendees our exclusive, FDA-Cleared cotton application and our photo station with Chilly the penguin. We loved seeing the pictures everyone took!

Even though the conference has ended, there is still something to celebrate – this week is Emergency Nurses week! We greatly appreciate all the work the nurses bring to the front lines of emergency care. Thank you for your passion, strength and superior patient care today and every day.

See you next year in Austin, TX!
